As the programs from GO continue to grow, we continue to struggle with the very real problem of physical space. In 2008, God blessed Guyanese Outreach with a lease from the Government for an additional building. This second building was formerly occupied by the local Lion's Club and has now been leased from the government of Guyana to GO for the next ten years at the absolutely unbelievable lease rate of just $US 5.00 PLUS an option to renew!

The building had not been used for 4 years and needed a lot of renovation. It is approximately 60 ft x 24 ft. and was basically one large room that we divided into two. All 12 foundational posts were rotted. It had concrete walls, but with open spaces, which brought in a lot of dust. There were no windows and all of the doors had to be replaced. God has blessed us with a small grant from the European Union to accomplish much of this basic work, but there is much more to be accomplished than our present budget will allow for.

Our newest building, formerly the home of the Lions Club, now leased from the Guyanese government to GO

Renovations began in the building that had been empty for four years

As renovations are near completion, you can see the new life the building holds

With the classroom space inside already very crowded, we needed to start construction on the outside open area know as the Tent / Portico

Guyanese Outreach is in need of your donations to allow us to continue with the renovation of this very important building in several smaller phases as we see God continue to bless our finances.

Our first phase was to build the connecting tent / portico in the open area next to the building. This addition was absolutely necessary to accommodate both classroom and storage space.

Construction begins in the open area next to the new building, affectionately known as the tent / portico

Zinc panels are laid in place as a temporary roof and protection from the rains

The first phase of our addition is complete, but as you can see below much more is needed to complete the facility the Lord has blessed us with

Our first Graduation Ceremony under the tent / portico of the new facility!

Our Next Phase, for which we need your financial help is to construct awnings to cover the sides and ends of the tent / portico. These awnings to keep the rain and sun out of the class room space, which is an open area. The space will continue to be used as an open area classroom and general meeting room for various community activities. The estimated financial need for the Phase is $US 800.00

Phase Two will be to install a gutter system to the tent / portico. We need to maintain rain flow during heavy storms, which are frequent in Guyana. The estimated cost for the Phase is $US 1,100.00

Phase Three is to construct shelving for the numerous books that GO is now housing. Our plans include building both permanent shelves as well as shelving on wheels to allow us roll the books out to the open classroom area when the students are present for reading classes, or when the area is open to the general public. The estimated cost for this Phase is $US 1,200.00

Phase Four includes the installation of a single toilet that will be used by both males and females. The estimated cost is $US 800.00

Once these "basic" renovations are complete our prayers turn to the completion of an even larger project.

Phase Five is to construct solid foundation and concrete pillars that will allow us to build a second floor as a permanent home for the library. To complete this phase, an estimated $US12,000 needs to be raised.

Phase Six will actually cover the construction of the second floor library and allow us to make our biggest impact on this village. It will cost almost $US 23,000.

We know that God has called us to this village. GO is the first school of its kind here. It is exciting to see children and parents of different religious background come to burrow books including surrounding villages. GO’s presence and help to the community is very much appreciated here. My heart is touched and if you were here, yours would be also.

What an opportunity that God has called us to co-labor, till the soil; plant seeds; and water for growth to bear fruits for His Kingdom. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. GO needs your help. Please consider helping GO with a generous donation today!
